Homeowners Act Quickly To Prevent Flood Loss and Damage

If your home, office, or business is flooding, you need to call us right away. Time is of the essence to prevent property loss and damage resulting from flooding. Water Damage Do's and Don'ts

  • If NO RISK of electrical shock, first turn off circuit breakers to wet areas. Then unplug and remove electrical devices located on wet floor coverings and surfaces. 
  • Remove and secure as many small furniture items as possible to minimize rust or stains and expedite restoration. 
  • Place aluminum foil under legs of furniture, especially antiques, to protect furniture and prevent staining. 
  • Do hang draperies and pin up furniture skirts to prevent contact with water and minimize damage. 
  • Do remove books, shoes, paper good, fabrics, potted plants, or other items that may stain the carpet.
  • Check under beds and in closets. 
  • Do remove and secure moisture sensitive or high value items. 
  • Do make plans for restoration crew to remove large furniture items from affected areas. 
  • Don't use your home or wet/dry vac. Electrical shock could result. 
  • Don't place newspaper on wet surfaces. Newspaper ink easily transfers to other surfaces. 
  • Don't walk on wet surfaces any more than necessary in order to minimize safety hazards. 
  • Don't activate your heating or air conditioning system if it has been in direct contact with water or especially sewage. It may spread contamination. 
  • Don't adjust the indoor temperature unless instructed to do so by a qualified restoration technician.

Within Minutes:

  • Water contamination spreads to additional areas, rapidly increasing your loss.
  • Stains released from furniture (especially antiques) stain carpet permanently.
  • Moisture sensitive furniture finish begins to discolor.
  • Paper goods are ruined.
  • Latent animal urine odor becomes apparent
